Celebrity Karaoke Hosted by Lorenzo Lamas and Shawna Craig at Pig N Whistle, Hollywood 5/5/2011
After battling traffic in Hollywood, then finding a parking spot on Hollywood Blvd, I remembered it was May 5th, also known as Cinco De Mayo. Tonight’s event was a gamble for me. I was contacted by a PR company about a Celebrity karaoke Hosted By Donna D’Errico and the cast of Decisions (Corey Haims last movie). Normally I don’t cover events without A list stars because a lot of work and time goes into pre and post shoots. I made an exception this time because I had seen that at the last moment Lorenzo Lamas was going to be making his first appearance with his new wife Shawna Craig. At the bottom of the list was an actress, who I was in love with as a kid. Sadly, Nicole Eggert didn’t show, neither did Donna D ‘Errico, who was not feeling well. The red carpet ran well with the actors being very accommodating. Lorenzo and Shawna looked amazing. The carpet had lots of kids, whom I figure were with the agency who co-sponsored the event. But with out anyone slating where the talent was from and what projects they did in the past made it hard to tag theses photos.
The evening was also co-hosted by cast members from Corey Haim’s last movie, Decisions. The cast had already debuted the movie at it’s premiere at the Directors Guild Of America in April. The movie is now opening up nationally, so this was the last chance for the cast to help promote the film together. One of the films stars Anthony Vitale, was extremely emotional when giving out posters to the media at the end of the carpet. It was actually a cast member of Decisions, Liana Mendoza http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2831164/ who was the brightest surprise for me of the night. Not only did Liana AKA “Roxxy shine on the red carpet she also did off. She has a great personality , and is amazingly charming, to go along with her beauty. I do expect to see more great things from her in the near future.
The 7th Annual MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert – honoring Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan
This was the final event of my LA trip. It was also the one I was looking forward to. My credentials for tonight were red carpet only. Having been an avid music fan and having worked with musicians, it was an honor to be at this Grammy sponsored event. It was refreshing to finally be on a red carpet, where the other photographers were asking me to identify the musicians. MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit Concert raises money for MusiCares an addiction recovery resource for music people in need.
The concert was honoring Depeche Mode lead singer Dave Gahan and Vans Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman. The red carpet had members from Jane’s Addiction, Paramore, and Billy Corgan. However the only downer of the evening was former fellow Roosevelt high School student, Steven Tyler, did not walk the carpet. Neither did Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro, who fled the scene after signing a few autographs for fans. It was a lovely event and I hope to have the privilege of attending the show next year.
